Emerging statistics continue to report rising rates of infection presenting a new challenge that necessitates the need for interventions that directly try to confront the scourge from the grass roots level (NASCOP-2001). These led to the formation to CBOs specifically dealing with HIV and AIDS issues in Kenya. Most of these groups were formed after the government declared the epidemic a national disaster in 1999. The main aim of this research was to investigate the impact of HIV and AIDS interventions implemented by CBOS in Nyamira division. It sought to find out the membership, educating and training of members and officials as well as the interventions implemented by the CBOs and their impact on the community. Research findings indicated that majority of the CBOs were not genuinely formed to deal with HIV and AIDS issues.the findings further indicated that majority of the officials and members have minimal education and training on HIV and AIDS issues. The impact of the interventions carried out by CBOs on the community was moderate and that CBOs need to improve on their management so as to have a positive impact on the community.

The Impact of HIV/AIDS on eThekwini Businesses is a quantitative study which used a questionnaire to solicit responses from managers of profit-making organisations. The study intended to reveal the extent of the impact of HIV/AIDS on the profitability of the organisations and the costs incurred by employers in trying to deal with the disease. The study managed to reveal challenges faced by employers as well employees in an organisation. Employees were faced with the fear of victimisation based on their HIV/AIDS status. The fear of being dismissed and discriminated against because of their HIV/AIDS status forced employees not to disclose their status.

THE IMPACT OF HIV/AIDS EDUCATION ON UNIVERSITY ...

This book examines the impact of HIV/AIDS Education on university students in Kenya. Mary postulates that Kenyan university students have adequate knowledge concerning HIV/AIDS but there is a disconnect between their attitude, knowledge, practice and behaviour towards HIV/AIDS Education. Using a cross-sectional descriptive approach, the author assesses the impact of HIV/AIDS Education provided by Kenyan universities and other sources vis-à-vis its reflection in the behaviour of university students. She further establishes attitudes portrayed by students and discusses the link between practices that predispose university students to HIV/AIDS infection and education. Consequently, the author recommends that the Kenya Government should ensure that HIV/AIDS Education is accessible to all university students by mainstreaming it in the entire university curriculum. This book is a must-read for students, lecturers, policy makers, counsellors and NGOs dealing with HIV/AIDS in Kenya and elsewhere in the world.

Impact of HIV/AIDS on Ethiopian Business

This book deals with the impact of HIV/AIDS on Ethiopian Businesses, as approached from a managerial perspective. This approach has been adopted for its relevancy to managers in general. The book is perhaps the first in Ethiopia in its kind as HIV/AIDS is understood by many as merely a health problem. Many business people do not recognize its effects on business. However, their ignorance did not evade its impact. It is already guzzling the businesses' profit, shrinking their productivity, mounting their cost, diverting productive resources, and affecting the market for products. Because it affects the key resource the human resources it affects everything of the organization. Major features of the book include that HIV infections mostly occur in productive people, transmission is increasing in Ethiopia, and lack of awareness can cause workplace conflict as well as mismanagement of employees. It also emphasizes that though managers are notionally aware that they should be concerned about HIV/AIDS and its impacts, they are not translating this notional awareness into any form of meaningful action plan. The book is suitable for managers, teachers, students, and policy makers.
